How it works
We add your food (guests × cost per person), labour (hours × rate), delivery and equipment, then apply overhead as a percentage of food + labour. The recommended price divides your total cost by one minus your target margin, so the margin holds after all costs.
Worked example
50 guests at £8 food each = £400. 6 hours labour at £15 = £90. £20 delivery. 10% overhead on £490 = £49. Total cost £559. At a 30% margin the recommended price is about £799 — roughly £16 per guest, with ~£240 profit.
Assumptions & common mistakes
- Estimates only — always confirm with your own supplier prices.
- Don't forget your own time: include realistic labour hours.
- Overhead (insurance, kitchen, admin) is easy to leave out — it protects your margin.
